IAC held successful Grand Cultural Arrival Day Mela at Albion

The Indian Action Committee (IAC) held a successful 15th Annual Grand Cultural Mela in Berbice at the Albion Sports Complex to commemorate the 180th Anniversary of the arrival of immigrants from India most of whom were Indentured Labourers.

The audience was treated by the music of Shakti Strings led by Maestro Avinash Roopchan and backed up by Traveller’s Sound System.

There were excellent performances by the Shelita Dance Troupe, Ryan Dance Troupe and the recently formed Vanie Vanatya Dance Academy and a solo performer which provided a mixture of different Indian dance form.

The High Commission of India was represented by Second Secretary Mr Sashi Mohan Joshi who delivered a brief address.

The crowd was well behaved and abided by the IAC’s policy of no alcohol consumption during the show.
